If you haven’t yet tried any of Laura Mercier’s bath and body collections, go to your closest Laura Mercier counter immediately! You will not be disappointed and every penny spent will be worth it. For a couple of weeks, I have been using the new Verbena Infusion Gel Body Moisture. I admit it – at first, I was skeptical of the “gel” in the name, and I couldn’t stop thinking about that sticky feeling you feel from using aloe – but I couldn’t have been more wrong about that. It’s part gel and part cream, so it actually feels much lighter than a cream – which is perfect for the heat of the summer. It glides on with ease and quickly absorbs into your skin. The result is extremely soft skin for hours – seriously, I love a great moisturizer that doesn’t require constant reapplication. (more…)
My hair grows like a weed. Unfortunately, the hair of which I speak is not on my head. My legs and underarms give my razor a workout. If I shave in the morning, by afternoon, I’ve got stubble. And forget about skipping days…unless I want to look like Sasquatch. Getting rid of the hair is not only expensive (I go through a lot of razors) – it’s also tedious and annoying. There are many days that I make certain clothing choices so I don’t have to go through the trouble of shaving.
So when I heard that one of my favorite skincare brands, DERMAdoctor, has a hair-minimizing antiperspirant, I emailed them with a quickness to ask for a sample I could review for Spoiled Pretty.
No need to go ape over jungle-like hair growth and rain forest-level wetness. Stop monkeying around with the ordinary and make peace with two decidedly indelicate concerns with a solution uniquely camouflaged as a daily antiperspirant. It contains fourteen highly evolved botanicals that help turn underarm hair into an endangered species.(more…)
The shower and my chemically-straightened hair are frenemies. Every seventh day when I wash my hair, they get along great in a shampoo Shangri-la. But the rest of the week, I employ a shower cap to keep the steam from undoing the silky straightness. I have been wearing shower caps since I was a child, and I’ve tried them all. And no matter how much they cost – from the flimsy free ones you swipe from a hotel to the more expensive caps – they’ve always let me down. They inadvertently allow moisture in. Or the elastic band loosens, allowing strands of hair to escape the shower cap and get all soaked up. Don’t you just HATE that?
After decades of the shower (and sub par shower caps) putting a damper on my do, I didn’t think it was possible to make it an entire week without steam wrecking my blow dry/flat iron handiwork. That is, until I discovered The Perfect Shower Cap from BlowProfour years ago. Seriously, the name does not exaggerate. (more…)
