Beautiful Things My Mother Taught Me

Mom and me, circa 1979 Disclosure: This post is sponsored by CoverGirl. Mother’s Day is this Sunday and I’m so excited. Not just because Mr. Spoiled Pretty and my son, Westley, are treating me to a decadent brunch. But because it’s an opportunity to celebrate my hero, Andrea Stamps. I must admit that until two years ago, Mother’s Day was just another CONTINUE READING

Bath & Body Works 3-Wick Candles: 2 for $22

At Christmastime, I agonized over what to get my son's daycare teachers. There are 12 of them - and even though he has his two main teachers, they all have interaction with him and take excellent care of him. So I needed to buy 12 gifts to show my appreciation, without breaking the bank. $10 each seemed doable, except CONTINUE READING

IMAN Skin Tone Evener BB Creme SPF 15

As a beauty expert, I’m embarrassed by how late I am to the BB Cream party. In the past year, so many friends and colleagues have asked me about BB Creams—what’s the buzz, which brands are the best, etc. —and they would look at me funny when I admitted to not having tried BB Creams yet. I mean, they CONTINUE READING

CoverGirl Outlast Brilliant Shine Nail Gloss in Vio-last

I’m very fickle about my fingernails. Before I paint my nails or get them professionally did, I spend a inordinate amount of time pondering my polish options. I consider the season, recent trends, my wardrobe that week and anywhere special I might go. But despite all of this planning, I’m usually over my polish choice before it even dries. My New Arm Candy: Rebecca Minkoff Swing Bag

After beauty products, handbags are my secondary addiction. But when it comes to arm candy, I have discriminating taste. For me, the perfect handbag seamlessly marries fashion with function, is handcrafted from high-quality materials, has really unique hardware and is classic but edgy - all at the same time. I don't like to carry the of-the-moment "it" bag. I CONTINUE READING

Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner High Precision Waterproof Eyeliner

Normally, I don’t wear eye makeup to work because, when I do, around 3p.m., I catch a case of the afternoons and start rubbing eyes – and my handiwork ends up all over my fingers. But I recently discovered a product that has me re-thinking my work week eye makeup embargo.

Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner High Precision Waterproof Eyeliner is a high precision, richly pigmented waterproof liquid eyeliner with unmatched staying power.

Just to give you an idea of how well it wears, when I first received samples to review, I tested a few of the shades on my hand. 24 hours later, the lines look freshly applied, despite a shower and several thorough hand washings.

Available in 15 gorgeous shades (with matte, iridescent and diamond finishes), these liners come off easily with waterproof makeup remover.

Mary Kay Spoiled Me With a Miami Makeover

spoiled+pretty+miami+fashion+week+ashunta+sheriff+makeover Mary Kay Spoiled Me With a Miami Makeover

Last month, I traveled to Miami to report on Mercedes-Benz Swim Fashion Week as a correspondent for Mary Kay. I’ve been a Mary Kay fan for years, and was excited to get better acquainted with their products – particularly, their newest offerings.

mary+kay+lash+love+mascara Mary Kay Spoiled Me With a Miami Makeover

One of the highlights of my trip was a makeover with celeb makeup artist, Ashunta Sheriff. Ashunta’s client list reads like a who’s who of Hollywood (Rihanna, Ciara, Hillary Duff, Ashlee Simpson, Keri Hilson, Jennifer Hudson, Sharon Stone, Queen Latifah, P. Diddy and Alicia Keys) – so to be in her gifted hands was a major treat. Using products from Mary Kay, Ashunta gave me the J.Lo glow I’ve always wanted but never knew how to properly replicate.

Of all the products Ashunta used to create my Miami-inspired makeover, I fell hardest for Mary Kay’s Lash Love Mascara. Lash Love promises to define and deliver 4 times the volume – and child, did it ever!

After Ashunta applied the mascara using her “uptown, downtown, cross town” technique (peep the video for a demonstration), my fringe looked fat and fabulous – without looking overdone. And I really love how deeply pigmented the color is; my natural lashes are black, but skimpy – so I need something ultra dark to make my peepers pop. Not to mention, Lash Love managed to stay put all day, despite the merciless Miami heat and humidity.

Lash Love Mascara costs a very affordable $15 – and is available at marykay.com.

Miami, Mary Kay and Mercedes-Benz – Oh My!

Miami, Mary Kay and Mercedes Benz Oh My!

A few weekends ago, I attended Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim 2012 in Miami, as a correspondent for Mary Kay – and they put me up in a gorgeous room at Fashion Week headquarters, The Raleigh Hotel.

I had the most fabulous time in South Beach, getting acquainted with the Coyne PR beauty girls and the other blogger correspondents, Annie Tomlin from BellaSugar.com and Lizzie Dunlap from RealBeauty.com.

In between makeovers, delish dinners and runway shows, I was also able to schedule some mojito-sipping downtime with one of my BFFs, Aimee.

If you’re ever in Miami, I highly recommend the Raleigh Hotel. The rooms, service and ambiance were incredible – and the picturesque pool was just the cherry on top.

I had the time of my life…and I owe it all to you, Mary Kay!

kim+khloe+kourtney+kardashian Kardashian Style Acrylic Makeup Organizer Giveaway!

As a beauty blogger who is slightly obsessed with the Kardashian sisters, I receive a ton of emails – asking about Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian’s style, favorite beauty products and makeup application secrets. It’s one of the reasons why I enlisted Kim’s makeup artist, Mario Dedivanovic, to contribute a weekly column to Spoiled Pretty – Makeup Mondays With Mario.

But the most popular question I receive is where people can purchase an acrylic makeup organizer like the one featured on Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

Not only have I found one, but this week, I’m giving three away!

bride Makeup Mondays With Mario: Photo Friendly Foundation

Hi!

My wedding is in a month and I’m looking for a foundation base that would look perfect in photos. I know I should avoid products with SPF, but is there any specific product recommendation I could get, Mario? It would be much appreciated!!!

Sara

diorskin+sigma Makeup Mondays With Mario: Photo Friendly Foundation
Hi Sara,

Congradulations! A great foundation to use on your wedding day is Dior’s Diorskin Sculpt Line-Smoothing Lifting Makeup. I’m a fan of lifting and line-smoothing products, regardless of age.

I recommend applying this foundation with Sigma’s Synthetic Face Kit. The kit comes with three face brushes that can be used with liquid or powder products. Buff the Diorskin Sculpt makeup onto your skin using the flat top Kabuki brush for a flawless looking, high definition effect. Good luck and best wishes on your big day!

Thanks for visiting Makeup Mondays with Mario!

xo,

Mario
