Congrats to the winners of Spoiled Pretty’s Kardashian-Style Acrylic Makeup Organizer Giveaway… (more…)
A few weekends ago, I attended Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim 2012 in Miami, as a correspondent for Mary Kay – and they put me up in a gorgeous room at Fashion Week headquarters, The Raleigh Hotel.
I had the most fabulous time in South Beach, getting acquainted with the Coyne PR beauty girls and the other blogger correspondents, Annie Tomlin from BellaSugar.com and Lizzie Dunlap from RealBeauty.com.
In between makeovers, delish dinners and runway shows, I was also able to schedule some mojito-sipping downtime with one of my BFFs, Aimee.
If you’re ever in Miami, I highly recommend the Raleigh Hotel. The rooms, service and ambiance were incredible – and the picturesque pool was just the cherry on top.
I had the time of my life…and I owe it all to you, Mary Kay!

As a beauty blogger who is slightly obsessed with the Kardashian sisters, I receive a ton of emails – asking about Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian’s style, favorite beauty products and makeup application secrets. It’s one of the reasons why I enlisted Kim’s makeup artist, Mario Dedivanovic, to contribute a weekly column to Spoiled Pretty – Makeup Mondays With Mario.
But the most popular question I receive is where people can purchase an acrylic makeup organizer like the one featured on Keeping Up With The Kardashians. (more…)
Got a question for Mario? Email your makeup and skin care queries to firstname.lastname@example.org, and check back next Monday to read Mario’s expert advice!
I don’t care what anyone says about Uggs being ugly. I adore them. They are some of the most comfortable footwear I’ve ever worn (I own three pairs of boots and a pair of slippers). Seriously, when you wear them, it feels like you’re walking on clouds.
The downside is that Uggs are expensive. But don’t be tempted by shearling-lined charlatans. Nothing is as comfy cozy as the real deal. Your best bet is to patiently wait ’til Uggs go on sale – and then make your move.
That’s exactly what I plan to do on Monday, July 25 at 11am…because HauteLook is having an Uggs sale! I probably shouldn’t tell you this because I don’t want too much shopping competition. But you know I can’t keep a secret from my Spoiled Pretty sisters.
So whether you’re an Uggs newbie looking to make your first purchase or a seasoned vet adding to your collection, I suggest you set an alarm for this sale – because I predict the stock will go quickly.
And if you’re not already a member of HauteLook, I highly suggest that you join right now (membership is free) – so you’re signed up and ready to shop when the sale kicks off on Monday.
Congrats to the winner of the Bed Head Foxy Curls Styling Iron Giveaway – C and C girl.
She has won the Bed Head Foxy Curls 1-1/4 Inch Tourmaline Ceramic Conical Styling Iron, which creates softer, shinier, natural looking curls and waves – without frizz. The iron heats up in just 30 seconds, and the temperature dial has multiple heat settings that can be adjusted to suit your hair texture. The cool tip lets you get a grip, without fear of burning your fingers. And forgetful gals will appreciate the iron’s automatic shutoff feature – which powers down after an hour.
Many thanks to Bed Head for sponoring this contest. And stay tuned for Spoiled Pretty’s next giveaway, which will be revealed very soon!
For the past few years, when it comes to eyebrow products, I have been in a monogamous relationship with Diorshow Brow Styler Ultra-Fine Precision Brow Pencil. I’ve never been brow endowed (the gene skipped me and went to my younger sister), and the Diorshow pencil has served me well. The only issue I ever had with the DiorShow was its staying power. 99% of the time, it’s fine and the pigment stays put. But if it’s sweltering and I start sweating, it doesn’t last (literally) a hot minute.
So what’s a sweaty, follicularly-challenged gal to do? Call up QVC, that’s what.
You see, QVC sells a fabulous product from It Cosmetics called the Brow Power Universal Eyebrow Pencil. It’s truly universal because it transforms and adjusts to all brow hair colors. Apply lighter, softer strokes to match lighter color hair, including blonde and silver. Press harder for darker hair, including medium brown to black. As a finishing touch, lightly brush through brows with the spooly brush for a natural, polished look. A full brow-lift instruction diagram is included with each pencil.
The oval shaped tip creates a natural looking, believable brow and is perfect for both thin and thick brows. And an exclusive “Brow Enhancing Complex” uses a patent-pending blend of cutting-edge ingredients to target the look of brow hair loss, and helps restore your brow hair follicles – promoting the look of healthy hair growth and health.
But the best thing about this pencil is its staying power. It’s water- and smudge-proof. So even if it’s so hot that your face is melting off – like that evil dude from Raiders of The Lost Ark (left), your eyebrows will stay put.
And for every Brow Power Universal Eyebrow Pencil sold, It Cosmetics gives one to Look Good…Feel Better, an American Cancer Society program that teaches female cancer patients beauty tips to look better and feel good about how they look during chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
While the product isn’t exclusive to QVC, you get more bang for your buck buying from them. One Brow Power Universal Eyebrow Pencil retails for $24, but at QVC, you can get two for $31.82…or one Brow Power Pencil plus a highlighting pencil for just $26.34.
|Welcome to Miami…bienvenito a Miami!|
While covering Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim as a correspondent for Mary Kay, I must have lost 10 lbs. in water weight just sweating my ass off. That kind of heat and humidity typically turn my face into an oil slick of BP proportions. Luckily, I came prepared.
Two days before departure, I visited my local Sephora store and picked up a bottle of Urban Decay De-Slick Setting Spray, which controls shine and keeps your makeup as you applied it all day long.
De-Slick absorbs excess sebum and deflects surface shine with state-of-the-art light dispersing particles. The problem-solving, hypoallergenic formula mists on, feels weightless, and sets makeup so it endures all day! The patent pending Temperature Control Technology actually lowers the temperature of your makeup to hold foundation, eyeshadow, blush and concealer in place. The sprayer, unlike others on the market, delivers a micro-fine mist that distributes product evenly over the skin.
While in Miami, De-Slick Spray was the only thing that kept me from looking like you could fry some chicken on my mug. Muchas gracias, Urban Decay!
Nordstrom‘s annual Anniversary Sale is in full swing. Have you seen their Beauty Exclusives? They are off the chain! If you haven’t had an opportunity yet to shop the sale (hurry…sale ends July 31), allow me to play personal shopper and make some recommendations.

Shea Butter Hand Cream is the #1 international best-seller from L’Occitane, and one of my personal favorites. Enriched with 20% shea butter, this super-creamy hand balm quickly penetrates to protect, nourish and regenerate dry skin. The scent is light, yet intoxicating. Smooth even the most hard-working hands with a blend of nourishing ingredients including almond oil, honey, coconut oil and antioxidant vitamin E. Keep the 5.2 oz. tube on your vanity at home and stash the 1 oz. tube in your purse so you’re never without this little luxury.
MOR Essentials Hand & Body Lotion, $9.90 ($18 value)
Before the Anniversary Sale started, I was provided with an advance sample of MOR Hand & Body Lotion to review. The Honey Nectar lotion is one of the best fragrances I’ve ever smelled, and the formula is lightweight but deeply hydrates. I’m not a big honey fan, but the scent of the Honey Nectar moristurizer isn’t so literal. It also features notes of brown sugar, candied almonds and warm vanilla milk. Unfortunately, the Honey Nectar lotion appears to be sold out online – but I recommend you track it down at your local Nordstrom store. The Hand & Body Lotion is also available in Neroli Clementine, Basil & Grape, Black Currant Iris and Sugar Rose Tiger Lily. Corresponding Hand & Body Washes are also Anniversary Sale Beauty Exclusives.
Clarisonic Mia, $149 ($189 value)
You’ve wanted a Clarisonic for, like, forever…and keep saying that you’ll finally buy one if and when it goes on sale. Well, now’s that time. Mia is the travel version of the original Clarisonic, so it has all of the benefits of the more expensive brush – like six times more makeup removal, better product absorbtion, smaller looking pores and fine lines. It also comes with a cute, pink travel bag. Available in Island Coral, Fuchsia, and Zebra print.
MAC Cine-Matics Face Brushes, $49.50 ($112 value)

philosophy ‘amazing grace’ 3-piece super set, $70 ($137 value)
Feel like you’re wearing a beautiful dress every day of the week. ‘amazing grace’ is philosophy’s best-selling fragrance, designed to make a woman feel amazingly clean and beautifully feminine. The set includes ‘amazing grace’ perfumed shampoo, bath and shower gel (32 oz.); firming body emulsion (32 oz.) and body spritz (8 oz.). Layer the clean floral scent of ‘amazing grace’ as you cleanse in the shower or bath and, afterwards, as you moisturize your skin. Then surround yourself with a refreshing, perfumed body mist that lightly hydrates as it scents your skin for a full-body fragrance experience.
Hanae Mori Paris Butterfly Anniversary Set, $85 ($133 value)
If I didn’t still have a full bottle of my beloved Hanae Mori Butterfly (it’s my signature scent), I would be snagging this set. Butterfly is a rare blend of berries and flowers, with a distinctive tone of strawberries and almond, giving an impression of vanilla. This deluxe set contains the world-renowned Butterfly eau de parfum spray, take-anywhere shower gel and body cream (1.7 oz. each), as well as long-lasting, non-alcohol Butterfly deodorant (2.6 oz.). A 1.7 oz. bottle of Butterfly retails for more than the price of this set – so this is a real steal!
Prada ‘Infusion d’Iris’ Gift Set, $99 ($133 value)
Once again, I have a full bottle of this perfume (it’s another one of my top 3 fragrances), so I won’t be buying this set. On second thought, maybe I will. My mom is also a fan of this fragrance and I usually gift her with a similar set for Christmas – so perhaps I’ll pick up her present extra early this year. Infusion d’Iris fuses tradition with idealism, creating a universe that every modern woman wants to be a part of. A floral citrus fragrance, Infusion d’Iris balances the clean fresh scent of the Iris Pallida with the subtlety of mandarin, creating a dream-like experience for the senses.
PHYTO ‘Phytodéfrisant’ Large Botanical Hair Relaxing Balm, $31 ($39 value)
You know that elusive, salon perfect blowout that you can never seem to replicate at home? Now you can, thanks to the folks at Phyto. Phytodéfrisant Botanical Relaxing Balm is a heat-activated straightening balm that hydrates, fights frizz, and leaves hair touchably soft and silky smooth. Suitable for all hair types, the product has a light, gel-like consistency that won’t weigh hair down. Apply a silver dollar-sized dollop to towel dried tresses, comb through, and blow dry for sleek, professional looking results. Phytodéfrisant is so fabulous that you might just bid your flat iron farewell.
Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel – Large Size, $36 ($39 value)
I’m kind of kicking myself for just having bought a bottle of this a month ago. It’s my go-to summer moisturizer because it’s light, doesn’t aggrivate my sensitive skin, and doesn’t leave my oily skin looking greasy. The Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion is also on sale, so I’ll pick that up in preparation for the colder months ahead.
Donna Karan ‘Cashmere Mist’ Deodorant Trio, $32 ($54 value)
Cashmere Mist Deodorant is the best smelling deodorant, possibly, ever. Have I actually smelled every deodorant that ever was? Um, no…but I highly doubt that they could top Cashmere Mist. $32 may sound pricey for three deodorants. But, trust me, they are worth every penny. Buck up now and thank me later.
