Because Shaving is the Pits: DERMAdoctor Gorilla Warfare Antiperspirant Giveaway!

My hair grows like a weed. Unfortunately, the hair of which I speak is not on my head. My legs and underarms give my razor a workout. If I shave in the morning, by afternoon, I've got stubble. And forget about skipping days...unless I want to look like Sasquatch. Getting rid of the hair is not only expensive (I CONTINUE READING

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale: BlowPro Perfect Shower Cap

The shower and my chemically-straightened hair are frenemies. Every seventh day when I wash my hair, they get along great in a shampoo Shangri-la. But the rest of the week, I employ a shower cap to keep the steam from undoing the silky straightness. I have been wearing shower caps since I was a child, and I’ve tried them CONTINUE READING

Get Catty With Wildfox Catfarer Sunglasses

I've been searching for some cat eye sunnies for forever. On a whim, I bought these Wildfox Catfarer Sunglasses from Shopbop - hoping that they wouldn't look too cartoonish. Even though I was afraid they'd be too large, I'm digging the oversized frames. They make a statement without overwhelming my face. And the cat eye shape is subtle, so it's not CONTINUE READING

Peep My Polish: Revlon Top Speed Nail Enamel in Superstitious

Now that I have two kids - and the youngest being 6 weeks old - I needed to get better acquainted with quick-dry nail polish options. I hardly have time to do anything, let alone a DIY - so I needed to find some lacquers that fit my new lifestyle. Yesterday, while going my grocery shopping, I picked up Revlon CONTINUE READING

Tatcha, I'm So Glad I Gotcha

I'm home on maternity leave, so I spend an inordinate amount of time nursing my daughter, burping her and changing her diapers - all the while, watching hours of QVC. I don't know what it is, but I am mesmerized by QVC demonstrations. If I'm channel surfing and I happen to land on QVC, it's damn near impossible for CONTINUE READING

 Blogging Is Hard Work
Philadelphia Magazine recently had a chance to catch up with Jay McCarroll, Season 1 winner of Project Runway and Philly’s prodigal son (he’s back in town after a brief stint in NYC). Here’s an excerpt from the interview:

PM: Now, I know you’re watching Season 4 of Project Runway, because you’re blogging about it on Elle.com.

Jay: Yeah, it’s super fun. It’s hard blogging, which I had no idea about. I thought, Oh, it’ll take, like, 45 minutes of my day. But that turned into an entire day with editing and rewriting.

lush1 Blogging Is Hard WorkPM: Where are your favorite places in Philly to shop?

Jay: I go to all the thrift stores. I like to peek around at the little boutiques in Northern Liberties and 3rd Street. I love Lush cosmetics on Walnut. That’s probably my favorite store.

Go Ask Alice

alice1 Go Ask Alice
For Holiday 2007, Walt Disney has partnered with Gianna Rose Atelier to produce triple-milled soap sets inspired by Alice in Wonderland.

“We went into Disney’s vaults and drew upon the inspiration of Walt Disney’s iconography to transform the characters, images and themes into couture soaps,” said Blair Buckley, Vice President of Product development at Gianna Rose Atelier.

Go Ask AliceAlice’s Treasures includes three soaps in the shape of a heart, a key, and a pocket watch – all packaged in a baroque style collector’s box, embellished with a key charm and story hand tag.

Alice’s English Garden is comprised of hand soap petals, “plucked” from the garden – infused with a blend of Gardenia and White Rose – and placed in an antique-style apothecary jar.

The Red Queen’s Court features four playing card-shaped soaps, embossed with silhouettes of Alice, the White Rabbit, the royal crest of the Queen and the key to Wonderland. All rest on a beautiful porcelain dish, and are boxed in Disney-inspired collectible style.

giftwrap2 This Holiday, I Wish You Laughter
Here’s one thing you probably don’t know about me. I am an expert gift wrapper. I take pleasure in the holidays, not just for obvious reasons, but because it gives me the opportunity to flaunt my knack for gift wrap.

But I recognize that not everyone is as gifted as yours truly…gifted, get it?

[Crickets]

spacenk laughter This Holiday, I Wish You LaughterSo if you’ve got any last-minute gifts to buy, here’s a suggestion. The bath and body products from Space NK are fantastically fragrant, and the gift sets come in the most charming packages – so there’s no wrapping required!

Space NK’s founder, Nicky Kinnaird’s travels inspired the indulgent products. Of the line’s many scent options, I prefer Laughter – which is fragranced with “an uplifting blend of lime, rosemary and juniper enlivened by an unexpected sweet, spicy bite of ginger.”

The Ultimate Experience in Laughter is a perfect introduction to the Space NK Bath & Body range; it includes Body Wash, Body Balm, Bath Oil, Soap, two Bath Tablets, Travel Candle, and Eau de Toilette.

Are You Dreaming of Some White Chompers?

Posted on by daneen in Coupon Code, Discounts, Teeth | 1 Comment

aquafresh Are You Dreaming of Some White Chompers? All I wanted for Christmas was pearly white teeth. And now, I have them – five days early – thanks to Aquafresh White Trays!

In the past, I’ve dabbled in the Crest White Strips; in fact, as I type this, there’s a half empty box sitting in the cabinet under my bathroom sink. I really tried hard to use them, but I just couldn’t get down with the strips. They slid around in my mouth, I couldn’t talk while they were in, and having to put those things on my teeth twice a day for 30 minutes was the final straw. I’m a busy woman and I don’t have time to spend an hour every day drooling on myself. Plus, after a few days of using the strips, my teeth became so sensitive that I quit using them altogether. Perhaps they work great – but I wouldn’t know because they were too much work, too much of an inconvenience, and required too much time.

Enter, my new best friends, Aquafresh White Trays. It’s the same concept as Crest’s strips – but on a whole ‘nother level. The pre-filled, disposable trays are soft and flexible, to offer a custom fit (they remind me of athletes’ mouth guards). Not only do they fit my mouth perfectly, they also fit my lifestyle. Another bonus is the curvy shape of the trays allows the whitening gel to stay put and flow between teeth.

Here’s how it works:
Are You Dreaming of Some White Chompers?
1) Carefully peel back foil and remove tray.
2) Place trays on upper, then lower teeth; keep trays in your mouth for 30-40 minutes.
3) Repeat once daily for 5 days and for even better results, use for up to 7 days (I noticed a difference after only 3 days).

I wish I had digital photos to show you the difference…sorry ’bout that. But trust me, if your teeth could use some whitening – pick up this product. We ladies spend so much money on our face, nails, skin, and hair – and walk around with Starbucks-stained teeth; it’s just not right!

My tooth transformation is proof you don’t need to go to a dentist for a bright smile…just head to your nearest supermarket or drugstore. But before you go, click here for a money-saving coupon.

Don’t Be Tempted

 Dont Be Tempted
At a company holiday party last week, the conversation turned to beauty products – as it usually does when I’m around. Two coworkers told me the same harrowing story – okay, maybe I’m being a bit melodramatic, but it wasn’t a good story.

Both women recently paid a visit to their local Bath & Body Works and were tempted into purchasing items from the Holiday Temptations line (not a surprise, given the yummy packaging). After taking the products home and using them, they were taken aback by the stains left on their tubs and towels.

We never got around to discussing how well the products work, but let’s be real – a shower gel had better get me squeaky clean (and wash away my cellulite) if it’s going to stain my shower.
