If you’re like me, you’ve got too many beauty products to count – so how can we be expected to know when our treasures have turned to trash? Timestrips are postage stamp-sized labels you stick on your cosmetics, which accurately monitor elapsed time and temperature. Simply activated, the indicator changes color when your makeup is no longer safe to use. So no more guessing if your mascara has met its maker.
I love glossy lips…the glossier, the better. But I realize than not everyone embraces this look. So if you’re shopping for a lip balm but hate the shine (I don’t get it, but I’m not judging) – pick up a tube of Peter Thomas Roth’s Matte Lip Balm. It protects and moisturizes with green tea, ginger, and rosemary extracts. This also makes a great gift for your guy.
Did you know that nail polish remover does more than just remove nail polish? Accessories designer Melanie Dizon revealed to Lucky Magazine how she uses this beauty staple to clean patent leather.
What you’ll need: A couple of cotton balls and a bottle of standard-issue nail polish remover.
How it’s done: Immediately after wear, spot-clean surface stain by lightly rubbing with a cotton ball doused in nail polish remover. Air dry for five minutes then store the item in a cool place.
Between work, traveling, and entertaining you all, I’ve been unable to schedule an appointment with the uber-talented woman who waxes my eyebrows and upper lip.*
Unkempt eyebrows, I can tolerate (luckily, mine don’t get thick and unruly)…but my moustache was getting a little out of control. So last night, I decided I couldn’t wait any longer – my lip needed to get de-fuzzified, and right quick. I am much too busy (and clumsy) for at-home waxes that need to be heated. So I decided to try Nad’s Facial Wand.
Stop. I know what you’re thinking. You’re remembering those Nad’s infomercials that aired, like, every 15 minutes during the 1990s. Yeah, they were hilarious – but seriously, this stuff really works! The pen-like applicator dispenses a small amount of gel, right where you want it. Simply apply the wax in the direction of hair growth, place the cotton backing strip over the gel, and press. Then, holding skin taut, quickly pull strip off in opposite direction of hair growth. That’s it!
The gel washes off with water, so it’s virtually goof-proof. Although this product can also be used on brows, I’m going to keep mine in the capable hands of my waxer. But I would definitely repurchase Nad’s Facial Wand to keep my upper lip area fuzz-free.

Iconix Brand Group, Inc. announced today that it has entered into an exclusive global licensing agreement with Elizabeth Arden for the development, marketing and distribution of men’s and women’s fragrance, cosmetics, and skincare products for its leading lifestyle apparel brand Rocawear. The debut fragrance is due in stores in the fall of 2008.
