Because Shaving is the Pits: DERMAdoctor Gorilla Warfare Antiperspirant Giveaway!

My hair grows like a weed. Unfortunately, the hair of which I speak is not on my head. My legs and underarms give my razor a workout. If I shave in the morning, by afternoon, I've got stubble. And forget about skipping days...unless I want to look like Sasquatch. Getting rid of the hair is not only expensive (I CONTINUE READING

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale: BlowPro Perfect Shower Cap

The shower and my chemically-straightened hair are frenemies. Every seventh day when I wash my hair, they get along great in a shampoo Shangri-la. But the rest of the week, I employ a shower cap to keep the steam from undoing the silky straightness. I have been wearing shower caps since I was a child, and I’ve tried them CONTINUE READING

Get Catty With Wildfox Catfarer Sunglasses

I've been searching for some cat eye sunnies for forever. On a whim, I bought these Wildfox Catfarer Sunglasses from Shopbop - hoping that they wouldn't look too cartoonish. Even though I was afraid they'd be too large, I'm digging the oversized frames. They make a statement without overwhelming my face. And the cat eye shape is subtle, so it's not CONTINUE READING

Peep My Polish: Revlon Top Speed Nail Enamel in Superstitious

Now that I have two kids - and the youngest being 6 weeks old - I needed to get better acquainted with quick-dry nail polish options. I hardly have time to do anything, let alone a DIY - so I needed to find some lacquers that fit my new lifestyle. Yesterday, while going my grocery shopping, I picked up Revlon CONTINUE READING

Tatcha, I'm So Glad I Gotcha

I'm home on maternity leave, so I spend an inordinate amount of time nursing my daughter, burping her and changing her diapers - all the while, watching hours of QVC. I don't know what it is, but I am mesmerized by QVC demonstrations. If I'm channel surfing and I happen to land on QVC, it's damn near impossible for CONTINUE READING

spoiled+pretty+green+week+small Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush
In honor of Earth Day (April 22nd), Spoiled Pretty is celebrating its 3rd annual Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman Week – a week-long celebration of natural and organic beauty products that will help you green your beauty routine.
First up is a makeup bag must-have. You know how you apply your blush in the morning and by lunchtime, it’s disappeared and you look like a CSI cadaver? Well, I’ve found a blush that’s in it for the long haul.  Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush is a new long-wearing, solar-baked blush that lasts up to 12 hours. No kidding. This cheek color lasts until you take it off.

Tarte+Amazonian+Clay+12 Hour+Blush Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush
Infused with natural clay harvested from the banks of the Amazon River and naturally baked by the sun, this nutrient-rich blush benefits all skin types. For oily skin types, Amazonian clay minimizes oil in and around pores to balance skin and keep product in place. And gals with dry skin will benefit from the clay’s nourishing and hydrating properties, which naturally restore skin’s moisture. Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush is also infused with Vitamins A, C and E – which fight free radical damage, prevent premature signs of aging, while brighten the skin.
Whether you’re feeling peachy keen or in the mood for a rosy glow, Tarte has you covered. Available in eight shades, the blushes are buildable and deliver a natural-looking, ultra-flattering flush. For best results, apply with my favorite blush brush from EcoTools, which is also a friend of Mother Earth.
Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush retails for $25 and is a Sephora exclusive.

Levi’s Perfectly Slimming Jeans

Levi%2527s+Perfectly+Slimming+512+Jean Levis Perfectly Slimming Jeans

After years of trying to find the perfect jeans to flatter my petite, curvy frame, I hit the jeans jackpot and found a pair that is both chic and cheap!

Levi’s Petite 512 Perfectly Slimming Straight Leg Jeans have a fit that slims, smoothing tummy curves with innovative inside-pocket design and a fabric woven for superior stretch and recovery.

My midsection is significantly smaller than my hips, so I usually have a problem with a gaping waistband. But the cut of these jeans sits higher (but not so high as to veer into “Mom jeans” territory) and properly fits my curves. The dark wash also visually slims and gives the jeans a dressier look – which makes them versatile for day and night ensembles.

Oh…and did I mention that they’re less than $45? In fact, you can snag a pair (like I did) at Macy’s* for $32.99!

*The 512 style is also available in regular sizes.

Emma Stone Is Pretty in Pink

emma+stone Emma Stone Is Pretty in Pink

I’m quite smitten with the fuchsia lip actress Emma Stone rocked at Monday’s Conde Nast Traveler Hot List Party. According to usmagazine.com, “Makeup artist Mai Quynh custom-blended the color using Mark Pro Glimmer Lip Powder in Punk and Mark Glow Baby Glow Lip Gloss in Girly Girl.”

Stone’s flawless skin and bold, black liner help her pout to pop.

Pretty in pink….isn’t she?

Celebrity makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic is answering your burning beauty questions!!! Every Monday, he will answer a beauty/skin care question as part of a weekly column on Spoiled Pretty, Makeup Mondays with Mario.

Dear Mario,
I’m writing for advice on eco-friendly/natural/organic beauty products and makeup. I want to incorporate some “green” products into my routine, but I don’t know where to start. I’m not interested in granola-crunchy stuff made out of hemp that smells like patchouli. I want high quality products that work as well as my regular products, but are also good for my body and the earth. Please share any favorite brands or products. Thanks.
-Linda
PS – I’m a big fan – so basically whatever you recommend, I’m going to buy.

Linda,

There are definitely great eco-friendly, organic beauty products out there for you to use and enjoy – and I think in the future we’ll be seeing a lot more beauty companies going green as well.

One of my personal faves is Josie Maran Cosmetics. Her line of makeup is very eco-friendly and the products deliver beautifully as true makeup should. Aside from being good for our environment, Josie’s makeup has tons of benefits for your skin. Most of her products are made with Argan Oil which, thanks to Josie, is becoming very popular for its healing abilities.

As a makeup artist working on sets and photo shoots, I tend to use product that has great pigment and textures over products that are eco-friendly or organic. But Josie’s line totally delivers. Of course, I have to mention the Bear Naked Wipes that I can’t live without. They are, hands down, the best makeup wipes ever! Other great natural brands I like are Tarte, Korres and Bare Escentuals.

Thanks for visiting Makeup Mondays with Mario!

xo,
Mario
