Winner of COVERGIRL Giveaway

drew+barrymore+smoky+shadowblast Winner of COVERGIRL GiveawayCongrats to Imani, winner of the COVERGIRL Smoky ShadowBlast and ShineBlast Giveaway!

Smoky ShadowBlast is a smoky eye tool plus makeup artist all in one shadow stick. Available in six shade duos with uniquely designed ends, it lets you create a traditional or colorful smoky eye in two easy steps. One end acts as a base, and the end lines the eye and shades the crease – so you can easily apply, smudge and blend shadow to a smoky perfection. ShineBlast Lip Gloss has a patented ShineSculpt™ applicator that hugs the contours of lips and boasts a tapered tip for precise shaping and sculpting, while 16 sheer shades deliver a brilliant, glossy finish and perfectly polished pout. The lip hugging applicator delivers more shine in a single swipe than the leading gloss, which results in 4x more noticeable shine vs bare lips.

Many thanks to COVERGIRL for sponsoring the giveaway, and spoiling Imani pretty. Stay tuned for the next contest announcement.

Clinique High Lengths Mascara

clinique+high+lengths+mascara Clinique High Lengths Mascara

I didn’t even know Clinique had a new mascara until a sample showed up in my mailbox last week. And after twisting off the cap and removing the wand from the tube, I thought I had received a defective product. I was expecting to see your standard issue mascara brush; instead, I met a curved, neon green, plastic applicator with teeth. Wait, I take that back. The comb isn’t exactly curved; it’s more limpy. It leans. Anyway, I took one look at the wand and said to myself, “Oh here we go again. Another gimmicky mascara, just what the beauty world needs.” But then I tried it, and quickly changed my presumptuous tune. Before I tell you about my change of heart, I just want to go on record as saying, “Sorry to have ever doubted you, Clinique.”

Left eye: with Clinique High Lengths Mascara
Right eye: sadly, without (doesn’t it look pathetic?)

clinique+high+lengths+mascara+wand Clinique High Lengths MascaraAs promised, Clinique High Lengths Mascara took my stumpy lashes from itty-bitty to BLADOW! Seriously, they went on for-ev-er. The formula also imparted just the right about of volume – dramatic, yet believable. Since the comb doesn’t pick up a lot of product, you’ll find High Lengths to be much less wasteful than traditional mascara. And the leaning tower of green teeth did a great job of coaxing my wayward lashes into a curl.

Ever heard the theory about the flap of a butterfly’s wings affecting weather patterns thousands of miles away? Well, I have a hypothesis of my own. I’m pretty positive that the flutter of my fab fringe is responsible for this weekend’s predicted Nor’easter.

Thanks, Clinique High Lengths Mascara! Sorry about the storm, y’all.

Grammy Gorgeous: Pink

pink+grammys+2010 Grammy Gorgeous: PinkPink’s look at the 52nd annual Grammy Awards was a shimmering vision of modern glamour.

Stylist Marco Santini, who highlighted glistening shine to play up her platinum hair color, and define her texture and subtle grey tips, created the sophisticated red carpet look.

Santini, inspired by her silver-grey gown and the dramatic performance to come, created a unique, flowing shape that emphasized volume, height, and the illusion of movement. He accented the look with a diamond star-shaped pin.

Santini stayed with Pink after the red carpet, and was backstage waiting to quickly reproduce the look right after her stunning aerial performance of “Glitter in the Air” during which she was drenched in a shower of water.

“I had to work very quickly to restyle her look,” explained Santini. “I used Moroccanoil argan oil-infused products because I know they instantly absorb into hair, produce amazing shine, and won’t create build up. The look had to appear as fresh, light, and beautiful the second time around as it did for the red carpet.”

pink+grammys+2010+2 Grammy Gorgeous: Pink

How Marco Santini Created Pink’s Much Discussed Look:

Step 1:
Santini started by applying Moroccanoil Treatment throughout the singer’s damp hair to create a silky-smooth shine. He placed a small amount in the palm of his hand then combed through the hair with his fingers.

Step 2:
Next Santini applied argan oil-infused Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream from the roots through the ends for lift at the root and to give soft shine-enhancing hold, as well as create a “grip” for his brush while blow drying shape and direction.

Step 3:
After Pink’s cropped locks were blow-dried, Santini misted new argan-oil infused Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray on the outer layer and saturated several layers inside the hair from root to end. Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray leaves hair looking weightless and gives the hair glistening shine without sticky residue or build-up (especially important in this style since Santini had to reproduce the look after her Grammy performance). Santini then brushed the sides of Pink’s hair back and sculpted a rockabilly fold toward the nape of the neck.

Step 4:
He finished the look with a light mist of Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray all over the hair (from a distance of 10-12 inches) for an instant boost of shine. The final touch to Pink’s Grammy look was a star-shaped diamond brooch that was fastened to the front of her hair. Santini took a small
section of hair towards the front of her head and tied it with a clear rubber band., then fastened the diamond brooch to the hair for an elegant touch.

Grammy Gorgeous: Kristen Bell

kristen+bell+grammys+2010 Grammy Gorgeous: Kristen BellActress Kristen Bell looked stunning at the 2010 Grammy Awards in a long, black dress by Etro. mark Celebrity Makeup Artist Mai Quynh shares with Spoiled Pretty how she created Kristen’s gorgeous red carpet look.

Face
“For Kristen’s face, I first applied mark Calm & Composed Super Soothing Moisturizer followed by mark Face Xpert Flawless Touch Makeup in Buff using the mark Foundation Brush. To cover any redness, I used mark Good Riddance Hook Up Concealer in Fair/Light and mark Get Bright Hook Up Highlighter in Light underneath her eyes. I then set her foundation by brushing on mark Matte-nificent Oil Absorbing Powder in Nude Ivory using the mark Powder Brush. As a final touch, I applied mark Good Glowing Mosaic Blush Custom Color Palette in Sandy to the apples of her cheeks to create that natural looking glow.”

Eyes
“I wanted to make Kristen’s eyes the focus of her face, so I started by smudging mark Eyemarker Color On Line in Jet along the top of her lash line using the mark Eyeliner Brush. I extended the liner outwards so that it looked like a smudged cat eye. I then mixed I-mark Custom Pick Eyeshadows in Tiki and Magic and lightly dusted onto her lids, using the mark Angled Contour Eyeshaodw Brush to soften the edge by blending it back and forth. I then used two coats of mark Lash Splash Hook Up Waterproof Mascara in Black on her upper and lower lashes.”

Lips
“For her lips I used mark Glow Baby Glow Hook Up Lip Gloss in m.powerment Peach.”
